Racing Series A 2022

And so another season starts. Welcome back folks. A fine day today with sunshine and a good breeze. Great to see David T and Son out and sailing very well. Aidan O D won both races with comfort. Many thanks to Liam H and big Pete who have signed up for another year. A starboard course in Culmore bay, impossible to get lost Pete said!

No sailing – too windy

23/04/22

Good to see Alan T out in his Laser. Unfortunately he had a technical issue with the boom fittings and had to retire. Bill J also had a capsize and retired in race 2. Other than that in was a nice windy day for sailing. It was all about the Jibe mark. Kevin T also capsized but made a quick recovery and sailed on.

Sailing today downriver to Conniborrow and Faughan. Ken and Davy L returned to water and were sailing very well – but not quite quick enough to catch Aidan O D in his Laser. Light winds today were not suitable for sailing to the Peace Bridge, so the trophy will be held over for another occasion, with todays sailing counted as normal series A only.

Sailing today downriver to Conniborrow and Faughan. New marks have been laid at Faughan and Conniborrow and a warning mark placed on the old site of the crane. I think we have decided on a new rule – don’t go on the inside of this mark anymore.

It was windy today. Anton H was sailing his Laser. Good to see David T and Son out sailing and going well. Anton H was making his way across the bay from Conniborrow to Faughan when the mast snapped. A big bang and a nasty fright but no injuries and he was able to sail home with half a mast and half a sail.

Todays sailing concludes Series A. Congratulations to Bill J and Mateo L for a nice win.
